Staff Developments

Clear Cut Pictures video finishing department has expanded with the appointment of Online Editor/Colourist Bruno Mansi, who now heads up the Online team. Bruno joins Clear Cut from Hillside Studios where he was Senior Editor for 4 years; he previously worked at Thames Television and HTV. Recent credits include "The Spy Who Stole my Life" a 90' documentary for Channel 5, "Evil" on C4 and 'Faultlines' for ITV. Bruno will be heading our 4 suite Online department specializing in HD and SD projects and working on Symphony, DS Nitris and FCP.

Colourist Simon Astbury is joining the Clear Cut team to head a dedicated grading department. Simon has spent 5 years with Ascent Media, Todd-AO and Soho Images. His credits include Features such as 'Supersize Me', Drama series 'The Lost World' & 'New Tricks' as well as documentaries like 'Columbus & Four Go Dating' and video installations for Turner prize winning artists such as Steve McQueen.

Aylin Hansen joins Clear Cuts' account management team. The department is further expanded to ensure maximum 'face' and 'receiver' time for clients.

Clear Cut's full-time chef Ansobe has now been a fabulous full-on food person for nearly a year and her freshly-cooked daily menu has proved extremely popular. A proposal is in for 'Ansobe's Kitchen'.

Recent Technology Updates

Clear Cut is now

  • Running the first 4GB Unity network in the UK, so simultaneous access to media, remote or in-house, before or during an edit, is now easy.
  • Using the latest technology - our new digital delivery service will encode programmes or media and upload them to our dedicated web space - anyone around the world can log on and download at their leisure. We also offer real-time web streaming from the output of your editing machine.
  • Offering full HD capability, including an HD Final Cut Pro Online suite & Nitris HD compositing.
  • Installing a new 2K HD grading suite for our new Colourist, Simon Astbury.
  • Launching a web-based sales department selling and supporting a range of Final Cut Pro edit stations and other products. Apple products are now available - contact Ben Plumb on 0207.605.1760
  • Networking edit computers and client computers making media accessible to both editors & directors throughout editing - music, fx, scripts & logs can now be 'drag and dropped' between computers for speedier editing.
  • Able to supply "Internet Cafe" style editing, where directors can work in an open-plan area on Avid Xpress or Final Cut Pro. Productions can be seamlessly upgraded and moved throughout our facilities as projects evolve.
  • Supplying high-quality finishing specifically for Productions Off-lined/On-lined on Final Cut Pro or Avid Xpress.

Clear Cut Sound Department.

The sound studios upgrade to pro tools 6 on G5 Macs is now completed. The suites are networked together allowing quick transfer of work from prep suites to the mixing theatres. All three suites are now on our new serial digital (SDI) matrix allowing quicker laybacks. Recent projects dubbed by Clear Cut's Audio department include Endemol's 'Killer Sharks Live' & Daniella Westbrook, Eastenders, Drugs and My New Nose both for Channel5, Blakeway's Attlee and Churchill projects both for Channel 4, Wildfire's When the Moors Ruled in Europe for Channel 4 and Horizon's Forensic Tsunami for BBC.
